A veneer is a thin layer of restorative material usually placed over the front surface of the tooth. The purpose of veneer is to improve the aesthetics, and/or protect a damaged tooth surface. There are two types of materials used to fabricate a veneer: composite resin and porcelain. A composite resin veneer will be built-up directly on the tooth surface. A porcelain veneer is fabricated by a dental technician in a dental laboratory, and later bonded to the tooth surface.
